Cavs to wear Goodyear logo on jerseys next season

The Cavaliers will carry another big piece of Akron with them starting next season when the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company's Wingfoot logo appears on game jerseys.

The Cavs signed a multiyear deal with Goodyear Tires to put 2 1/2-inch by 2 1/2-inch patches of the company's winged-tire logo on its jerseys, according to ESPN's sources.

The deal is the latest to be announced as part of the NBA's three-year pilot program to sell ads on uniforms. Recently announced, the Cavs 2K eSports team will be one of the inaugural 17 teams in the league to launch an National Basketball Association 2K eSports franchise in 2018.

For instance, the Philadelphia 76ers' partnership with StubHub and the Sacramento Kings' jersey patch deal with Blue Diamond reportedly are worth about $5 million annually. "But seeing how they're doing it, understanding why they're doing it and me, I kind of got the best of both words - I got to play in a jersey without it and I guess I'll be one of the first ones to play with it". Monday, ESPN reported that Goodyear could be receiving about $30 million in annual advertising value via the jersey patches.

Who Had the Most Memorable Met Gala Look?
Kendall, meanwhile, seemed to be the center of attention, with her bare butt making the rounds on Bella Hadid's Instagram Story. Unlike most years, many celebrities did not focus their looks on the theme, so there was a major mix of ensembles on the night.

"We always want to keep Goodyear top of mind for the consumer and making moves like this is critical for our business", said Goodyear's director of marketing, Seth Klugherz. The Cavs are the sixth National Basketball Association team to announce a jersey patch sponsorship, and four of the previous five were all reportedly worth at least $5 million per season.

While relatively new in North American sports, corporate logos have been on team uniforms in Europe for years.

Nike will be the NBA's official apparel provider starting in the 2017-18 season. None of the Cavaliers players, at least at this time, have a deal with the tire company.

What do you think about the Cleveland Cavaliers sponsorship agreement with Goodyear? The Goodyear Wingfoots won the first NBL title in 1937 and the AAU National Championship in 1964 with a team that featured Hall of Fame coach Larry Brown. It is most famous for its blimp, which flies over sporting events.
