Manchester bomber was 'likely' acting with others: minister

Manchester's police chief told reporters Wednesday that it is clear "this is a network we are investigating" as he gave an update on the probe into the bomb attack at a pop concert in the city.

Detectives are probing a possible terror "network" linked to the Manchester suicide bomber, as six people are arrested in connection with the attack.

Manchester police made five new arrests and searched an address in the city centre. When asked about intelligence sharing between the U.S. and Israel earlier this week, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who had Trump by his side then, said it has never been better.

The graphic pictures appeared a day after the bomber's name was briefed to the USA media against the wishes of Greater Manchester Police, hours after Home Secretary Amber Rudd revealed she had told United States authorities not to leak material about the atrocity.

He said: "When the bang went I heard screaming and shouting and then they took the woman out. There's extensive investigations going on and activity taking place across Greater Manchester as we speak".

"This is not us", his father, Ramadan Abedi, told reporters in Libya shortly before he was held for questioning by Libyan police.

British authorities say they believe the suspected bomber may have recently travelled to Libya, which has been the scene of fighting between rival militia groups including some affiliated with Islamic State.

British counter-terrorism officials have hit out at their USA counterparts for apparently leaking intelligence to the American media in connection with the Manchester attack inquiry. That type of battery can be sold for $20 and is more powerful than those used in suicide vests, according to The New York Times. Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has set an agenda for Thursday's summit that addresses the two primary concerns raised by Trump during his presidential campaign: that other North Atlantic Treaty Organisation member countries are not contributing enough and that the organization is not focused enough on tackling terrorism.

A Polish couple living in Britain were confirmed among the Manchester victims, along with 15-year-old Olivia Campbell, whose mother had issued heartrending appeals for help when her daughter was still missing.

The silence will be followed by the resumption of local campaigning by most political parties, with the General Election contest restarting in full on Friday. A total of 22 people lost their lives in the bomb attack, while more than 50 others were injured.

But soon after Trump left, the Israelis opened up.

Soldiers were seen at the Houses of Parliament, May's Downing Street residence and at the London police headquarters at New Scotland Yard.

He said, however, that even if USA intelligence sources shared vital information with the media, it likely would not affect the strong intelligence sharing relationship between the US and Britain because it helps both countries. The BBC reported that security services thought the bomb was too sophisticated for Abedi to have built by himself.

"When arrested, the man was carrying a package which we are now assessing".

They were detained after police executed warrants in south Manchester.

A National Counter Terrorism Policing spokesman said: "When that trust is breached it undermines these relationships, and undermines our investigations and the confidence of victims, witnesses and their families".

France, which has repeatedly been hit by devastating militant attacks since 2015, extended emergency powers.
