IOC confirms Paris will host 2024 Olympic games, LA for 2028

Baseball and softball's chances of continuing as Olympic sports increased considerably on Wednesday after the city of Los Angeles was awarded the 2028 Olympic Games.

"Everyone connected with LA 2028 is thrilled to be part of this win-win-win scenario for the Olympic movement", bid leader Casey Wasserman said in a statement. L.A. has hosted the Olympics twice previously in 1932 and 1984, but this will be the first time the city hosts the Paralympics.

"This is the moment Angelenos have been waiting for", Garcetti said.

Wednesday's confirmation came against the backdrop of a possible global corruption scheme surrounding Brazil's 2016 Olympic bid. Numerous plans for 2028 are the same as they would have been if they were awarded for 2024.

"Today's decision by the International Olympic Committee adds enormous potential for baseball and softball to remain on the program beyond the Tokyo 2020 Games". "Where evidence is provided, we will act".

Hosting a modern Olympics practically guarantees massive debt and cost overruns. The commission visited both cities in May, finding both to be low-risk and high-reward propositions for the cities and the IOC.

The delegation came to the stage wearing sneakers, which Wasserman talked about in his speech. ". My grandfather told me the key to success was two simple things: Always be honest, and always stay true to who you are".

Overcoming numerous obstacles and navigating a first-of-its-kind bid process, worldwide law firm Proskauer played an integral role in bringing the summer Olympics back to US soil for the first time since 1996. "But, our willingness - and our ability to do so is, I hope, a reflection of our commitment to you", he said.

Zinedine Zidane was disappointed with his side's performance following their 1-1 La Liga draw with Levante. That remains to be seen at the end of the match.

Most memorably for current Angelenos, the city hosted in 1984 at a time when the International Olympic Committee was in crisis. LA loves the OIympics because the Games have lifted up our city twice before.

IOC President Thomas Bach, the driving force behind the double award, described the candidacies as a “golden opportunity”.

The vote, in addition to setting the Olympic schedule for 11 years, breaks the IOC's tradition of selecting host cities one at a time.

The only question was: Which city would agree to take 2028?

For Paris, however, the wait has been considerably longer.

The IOC agreed in July that the 2024 and 2028 Games could be announced simultaneously, opening the door for LA to succeed Paris. "And their best is as good as it can possibly get for the Olympic Games".

The Los Angeles City Council unanimously supported the agreement at a session marked by vocal protests last month. The city last held the Olympics in 1924, meaning 2024 will mark the 100-year anniversary of its previous hosting.
