Arsenal Team vs Red Star Belgrade Confirmed

Friday, 20 Oct, 2017

Arsene Wenger said Olivier Giroud predicted his victor for Arsenal against Red Star Belgrade.

Wenger reverted to the patchwork approach he has taken to European team selections this season, Mathieu Debuchy playing for the first time in almost a year, while Mohamed Elneny featured alongside the Frenchman in a back three and Reiss Nelson, scorer of six goals in five Under-23 games this season, was deployed at wing-back.

Will this Arsenal XI be strong enough to get back to London with a win or at least a point to keep us top of the group?

However, they are without a number of first team stars including Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez while Chuba Akpom is the most recognisable name among Arsene Wenger's subs.

Richmond Boakye hit the post for the hosts in the first half.

Hamas and Fatah compromise
MK Tzipi Livni called the reconciliation talks in Cairo "an opportunity for change", but also called on Hamas to disarm. Thursday's signing of the agreement in Cairo was reached after two days of Egyptian-brokered negotiations.

The character of Arsenal's players was questioned after they let slip a lead to lose 2-1 at Watford on Saturday, with Hornets striker Troy Deeney saying the Gunners lacked "cojones". They were risky on set pieces, but thanks to some good saves from Petr Cech and some desperate defending Arsenal survived without conceding.

Theo Walcott was the biggest culprit of the night, along with Giroud, as both forwards failed to finish off moves instigated by the brilliant Jack Wilshere.

Giroud got himself on the scoresheet with another sensational strike. Walcott played a one-two with Wilshere who flicked the ball back to Walcott who headed it across goal.

With that in mind, there's not much of a reference point to show what could be expected in our third group game of the tournament, but like every team, Red Star Belgrade are playing league football.
