Manchester City's French worldwide defender Benjamin Mendy faces surgery and several months out after scans showed a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee on Thursday.

City's medical team had initially hoped he had only sustained an impact injury, but ESPN FC reported on Tuesday that he would be sent to see specialist Dr Ramon Cugat in Barcelona.

On Twitter, the player ensures that he " will join the Injury CF for about two months".

The official website of Manchester City published an official statement confirming the injury of Mendy by cutting in the cross of the front cross, which confirmed the end of the French defender season early.

Manchester City have confirmed that new £52million signing Benjamin Mendy has ruptured the cruciate ligament in his right knee.

Hot, sticky for Sunday's Packers game, but bring a coat
Safety Kentrell Brice , cornerback Davon House and linebacker Jake Ryan round out the list of non-participants for the Packers. With Vic Beasley out with a hamstring injury, the Falcons may elect to use Campbell more in pass rushing situations.

"Benjamin will undergo surgery tomorrow (Friday) in Barcelona, and everyone at the Club wishes him a speedy recovery". "Mancity.com will bring you regular updates regarding his rehabilitation." the club added.

To make matters much worse, on Friday morning, news emerged that Sergio Aguero had been in a auto accident in Holland and had suffered a fractured rib in the collision.

"Bad news guys", Mendy posted on social media "I will be joining Injury FC on loan for a couple months with ruptured ACL but will be back soon and stronger hopefully".

It should be noted that City are now standing at the top in Premier League table, having won eight out of nine games in all competitions.
