Zachary Levi, the beloved star of Chuck and the voice of Tangled's Flynn Ryder/Eugene has been rumoured to be cast as the lead in DC's upcoming movie of Shazam!

Zachary Levi, popular for his role in NBC's Chuck and tiny role in Marvel's Thor films will be world's mightiest mortal. David F. Sandberg ("Lights Out") will direct the film for New Line.

Previously known as Captain Marvel, Shazam first appeared in Whiz Comics #2 (February 1940), published by Fawcett Comics.

But for now, you have to start a Spotify song or playlist with your phone, and then control functions like volume with your voice. Inspired by the architecture and sound profile of the Play:1, the One is offered in black or white to blend into any room decor.

Given that Captain Marvel is essentially Superman with a different haircut, Shazam may need all the help it can get.

Other actors in the mix for the role in the last few months have included John Cena and more recently Jake McDorman, the star of TV's Limitless. The name is an acronym of the ancient gods and historical figures Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles, and Mercury, from whom Batson derives his heroic attributes from when in adult form. Recent Shazam comics have had the character calling himself Shazam (which can be risky when saying your name also turns you back into a powerless adolescent). Shazam! is an adaptation of the almost 80-year-old continuity of Earth's Mightiest Mortal.

Fan artist BossLogic, meanwhile, has shared a first look at what Levi as Shazam could look like. According to Nerdist, DCEU has six films on the horizon with set release dates and plans for another fifteen on top of that, which includes Joss Whedon's much anticipated "Batgirl" film. Safran will also be producing DC's Aquaman for Warner Bros. He's also had more of a comedic presence as Fandral in the Thor movies, but Shazam should be something different for him.
